Three very different love songs, One Dimash!
I’m taking a short break from the wealth of Folk material Dimash has in his archives (I’m aware not everyone likes folk music) to bring you three very different love songs from our musical phenomenon.
The first song is Give me Love (Mahabbat Ber Magan)
This song is a slow climb, kind of like the stage setting Dimash is stood on, I’m just going to say, Dimash is 6ft 3 (I think) so to suddenly find oneself elevated that high without anything to hold on to would be rather a daunting task in my opinion especially when one is already as tall as he is naturally, but then, I’m only 5ft tall so any kind of height is daunting to me! I have to climb on shelves to reach stuff in the supermarket!
Regardless of the stage setting, (I’m really not sure about it at all) his voice as usual is absolutely beautiful. He begins in that blown whisper tone that gradually climbs but never soars to the heights that we are used to from him. This song is a gentle melancholy stroll through his octave range rather than the rollercoaster ride he normally takes us on. His emotion is very present throughout, and I adore the way he uses his hands and his body to emote his feelings. All in all, its what I would describe as an easy listen with few surprises (except that elevating floor, I got vertigo just watching it!) I think I may have missed the point of the dramatic staging with this one! Nevertheless, I enjoyed it, I just didn’t get excited over it.
Now, the next video is one of my all time favourites! Dimash singing in his full tenor range and absolutely splendidly too! Had he gone into Opera I am sure he would have blown away the stuffiness and snobbery that is often present with the singers in this genre.
This song is called Ti amo cosi
Aida Garifullina flirts with Dimash but Laura Fabian steals his attention, pretty much the state of play in real life too as Laura Fabian is one of Dimash’s musical heroes. He adores her voice. It is plainly obvious that he is proud to be singing with her.
Laura Fabian is a delight for the ears. Plain and simple she is possibly one of the most talented female pop soprano artists of our time. Her crystal clear soprano is delicious and marries beautifully with both Dimash and Aida Garifullina.
This song should never be understood unless you’re Italian and know what they’re saying in that language. It certainly doesn’t translate well to English.
Oh and I think Igor has officially melted at the Piano, these three on one stage all singing together while he plays. He actually smiles! A real smile at the end of the performance! I have a musical crush on Igor, I don’t mind admitting it either. The man is a genius!
The third and final offering for today is My Swan (Akkuym)
This is the official music video for My Swan, and while they are never as good as a live performance, this video is very nicely put together to tell the story. Essentially the silly girl leaves him for an older man?! Breaks his heart and steals all his stuff too from the looks of things. You just can’t get the girlfriends these days apparently.
Dimash takes us through the first few verses in his soft chest voice, building slowly, until we get to the very short but divine vocalisation that I adore. No vocal gymnastics as such, it’s a love song, you can feel his emotion but because its a music video and not live you don’t get the full impact of the passion he brings to the song.
All in all, two nice love songs and one stunner. Give me the powerful operatic tenor all day long and I am a happy Dimash Fan! As always Dimash delivers each song flawlessly. I’m just not a fan of pop love songs (as per the other two). Ti amo cosi is by far and away the most beautifully delivered song of the three. I have no idea what its about, but that’s the beauty of it, you can draw your own conclusions.
So, that’s the end of my little side trip into Dimash World again, I hope you enjoyed the selection of songs.
