Dimash Qudaibergen: Movie Theme Songs

So here we are again with a new Dimash offering, I was just wandering around on YouTube looking for music and stumbled upon this little beauty. It’s the first time I’ve seen it anywhere, so I jumped over to Dimash’s channel and there it was!

From the film ‘Eternal Memories.’

‘We cannot for the sake of capturing a monster, create another one.’ What a statement! A lot of people could learn from that one sentence.

The song ‘Battle of Memories’

It is dark and mournful, brooding and intense. Sung in Chinese and very dramatic for the unfolding story behind it depicted on the screen. There are English subs on this video but if you just listen to him rather than read the song, he will take you on the journey you are supposed to be on. His soaring notes, his quiet breathiness, as usual Dimash does not disappoint. I don’t think he could actually, ever.

Big orchestral sounds attached to a film can sometimes make you feel like you just cannot escape from James Bond no matter how hard you try. The instrumental sections in this song are no different, very much a JB theme style unfortunately. My only criticism and nothing at all to do with Dimash’s performance! Oh for an original movie theme tune!

Well, what a surprise, here is one Dimash prepared earlier!

‘Creators – The Past’ film theme tune to the rescue! Across Endless Dimensions song writer would not entertain the idea of anyone else singing the theme song once he had heard Dimash singing. He wanted Dimash and wrote the song specifically for his voice. No one else was ever stepping up to take that on then were they!

I just love that jacket btw… just sayin…

The mastery of this young man’s voice never ceases to amaze and thrill me, full on belting voice to the breathiest vocal, back to his belting voice, raising us up to whistle tone and not even a slight struggle along the way. Sheesh, others just wish they could sing like that …
I know it’s recorded and not live, we all prefer him live but the imagery of this film coupled with Dimash’s voice made me want to go see the film immediately!

Anyway, that’s it for this Dimash post. Hope you enjoyed seeing this different side to his endless talents. So many genres to choose from, so little time ….

Next time I am taking us on a journey of Dimash’s traditional Kazakh folk music, brought up to date with his own compositions and concepts. It’s an interesting journey. I promise.
